Education has always been a feature of life in and around this ancient building. In monastic times the monks provided a school for young boys in the cloister, as well as being a place of theological learning for the monks.  Later, following the Dissolution of the monastery, The Kings school was established and that long relationship continues today as they provide the choristers for the choir, and their King's and Queen's scholars take their place in the ‘Cathedral College'.
